Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of September 18, 2020 No. 1487 approved new Navigation Rules in the water area of the Northern Sea Route. The document is aimed at ensuring the safety of navigation, as well as preventing, reducing and keeping under control pollution of the marine environment from ships. The rules, in particular, determine the procedure for organizing navigation of ships in the water area of the Northern Sea Route, provisions on navigation and hydrographic support of navigation, and other organizational issues related to navigation by a vessel in the water area of the Northern Sea Route.
